The Swedish Journal of Anthropology – called kritisk etnografi (‘critical ethnography’) – aims to promote critical ethnographic voices and perspectives on the contemporary global situation. Today’s world is characterized by an unprecedented large number of people from different backgrounds on the move; escalating political and social tensions; growing forms of authoritarian backlashes undermining fundamental democratic achievements; and, at the same time, new social and cultural processes of multiculturalism, global development, social change and popular protest.
The journal kritisk etnografi seeks to capture societal transformation and global change from multiple ethnographic voices and perspectives. It promotes new forms of societal and cultural engagements, critical reflections on the craft of ethnography, and collaborative joint-authorships.
kritisk etnografi – Swedish Journal of Anthropology is published by the Swedish Society for Anthropology and Geography. SSAG members get all issues of the journal by e-mail.
